đŤ School Clubs Reborn: A Season of Relaunches!
AFS Ghana has officially re-launched its high school clubsâand the excitement has been unstoppable! We kicked things off in June with reactivations at Accra Girlsâ SHS and Achimota SHS, where student leaders began shaping inclusive spaces for dialogue, service, and global learning.

We kicked things off in June with reactivations at Accra Girlsâ SHS and Achimota SHS, where student leaders began shaping inclusive spaces for dialogue, service, and global learning. The momentum grew with a spectacular event on Saturday, June 28, at St. Augustineâs College, Cape Coast. More than 600 students from seven top schoolsâincluding Adisadel College, Holy Child, Wesley Girlsâ SHS, Mfantsiman Girlsâ, Ghana National College, and Aggrey Memorialâcame together for a day of culture, celebration, and citizenship. From vibrant performances to passionate speeches and a thrilling intercultural quiz (won by Wesley Girlsâ SHS), the event captured the transformative power of youth leadership. The wave of reactivations then swept across Accra with relaunches at Labone SHS, Accra Academy, Accra High School, and a brand-new launch at OâReilly SHS. đ
Finally, the movement reached the Eastern Region, lighting up schools like Aburi Girlsâ SHS, Oti Boateng SHS, Ghana SHS (Koforidua), St. Roses SHS, and breaking new ground with a fresh launch at Abomosu STEM SHS. đ
đĄ AFS school clubs are more than extracurricular activitiesâthey are incubators of empathy, civic action, and global vision. With every relaunch, we empower young Ghanaians to lead with courage, serve with compassion, and connect across cultures. đâ¤ď¸

đ Farewell to the 2024/2025 Weltwärts Volunteers
After 10 months of meaningful service and cultural exchange, our incredible Weltwärts volunteers from Germany came together for their final orientationâa special moment to pause, reflect on their journey, celebrate their growth, and begin the transition back home.

đŹ The gathering was filled with heartfelt stories, laughter, and gratitude. Volunteers spoke warmly about the sense of safety, belonging, and vibrant community spirit they experienced in Ghana. From living with welcoming host families to working alongside colleagues and friends in local projects, their time here has been filled with unforgettable memories and life-changing lessons.
đ About the Weltwärts Program
The Weltwärts program, initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is designed to give young people from Germany the opportunity to volunteer abroad in projects that promote education, health, environment, human rights, and sustainable development. More than just service, Weltwärts is a two-way exchange: while volunteers bring new perspectives, energy, and skills to their host communities, they also gain intercultural understanding, resilience, and a deeper awareness of global challenges.
⨠A Global Ripple Effect
The impact of programs like Weltwärts is truly global. Around the world, volunteers:
- Strengthen the capacity of local organizations by contributing time, creativity, and skills.
- Create long-term connections that foster understanding across cultures and continents.
- Inspire communities back home with their stories and commitment to social change.
Here in Ghana, the 2024/2025 cohort supported diverse community projectsâranging from education and youth development to human rights, gender advocacy, and social innovation. Their work has left a mark not only on the organizations they served, but also on the individuals they encountered daily. đđž Special thanks to our dedicated community project partnersâ@mckingtorchafrica, @thespicegirlsclub, @hracghana, @fafaliorg, @victorybannerschool, and @basicsinternationalâfor opening your doors to our volunteers and giving them the space to contribute, learn, and grow. We are deeply proud of what our volunteers accomplished and inspired by the global citizens they have become. Their openness, hard work, and spirit of exchange will continue to ripple far beyond their time in Ghana.

đ 2024 Annual General Meeting of Intercultural Exchange Programs (IEP) Ghana
đ Held on 30th August 2025
In line with Ghanaâs Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), AFS IEP Ghana successfully convened its 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 30th August 2025. This yearâs AGM was not just a statutory obligationâit was a true celebration of our community. It brought together a vibrant mix of stakeholders who form the backbone of our organization: volunteers, host families, school club patrons, school club members, alumni, regional representatives, and our Board of Directors.

⨠Why this gathering matters
The AGM provided a unique opportunity for all who have contributed to our mission to reconnect, share experiences, and look ahead together. For many, it was also a reunionâa place to meet long-lost friends, rekindle old bonds, and build new ones within our association.
- Volunteers had the chance to reflect on their role in shaping intercultural learning across Ghana.
- Host families shared their invaluable experiences of welcoming exchange students and creating lifelong connections.
- School club patrons and members celebrated the growing network of young leaders who are carrying the AFS spirit forward in their schools and communities.
- Alumni reconnected with the organization that once shaped their own journeys, and shared how intercultural exchange continues to influence their personal and professional lives.
Bringing all these voices together under one roof highlighted the strength of our network and the importance of collaboration in advancing our vision.
đ Key highlights of the AGM included:
- Presentation and review of the performance report for the year ended 2024, offering transparency and insight into our achievements and areas of growth.
- Election of new Board Members to strengthen our governance and leadership.
- Interactive stakeholder discussions on the future direction of AFS IEP Ghana, ensuring that our next steps are shaped by the collective wisdom of our community.
⨠We are delighted to introduce our newly elected Board Members:
- Mr. Sydney Antonio â Legal Practitioner
- Mr. Hakeem Ibrahim â Entrepreneur
- Hon. Joe Badoe-Ansah â Consultant
- Mr. Ahmed Adu Nasir â Entrepreneur
Their diverse expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow, innovate, and deepen our impact in intercultural learning and exchange.đĄ The 2024 AGM reaffirmed one powerful truth: AFS IEP Ghana is more than an organisationâit is a family of people united by a shared passion for creating bridges across cultures and empowering the next generation of leaders.
