In conjunction with AFS Japan, AFS IEP Ghana is offering a scholarship worth over $9,000 for a High School Year exchange in Japan. In this program you will travel to a Japan to study in High School and live with a Japanese family for one year.

This is a unique adventure where you are going to discover a new culture, learn a new language, become an Active Global Citizen and be part of a Global Community forever.

The AFS Year Abroad High School program is all about Personal Growth, Cultural Exploration, Active Global Citizenship and Belonging.

The scholarship covers a return international flight, medical insurance, local transportation, host-family, school supplies & fees, orientations (pre-departure, arrival, mid-stay, end of stay) and 24/7 AFS support.

 

Selection Criteria

  • Be a Citizen of Ghana or permanent resident with a Ghana passport
  • Students must be in a Ghanaian High School
  • Must be highly academic and in the top quartile of their class
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills
  • Be of good conduct.
  • Must be willing to be a cultural ambassador
  • Must be born between 23 April 2005 to 23 March 2008

 

Application process

Interested students must submit a short video (2 minutes), no later than 19 October to WhatsApp number 0204529716.  The video should include the following:

  1. Introduce yourself
  2. Tell us why you should be considered for this scholarship?
  3. Discuss briefly what you know about Japan and show and tell something peculiar to Japan or Japanese culture (language, food or music… etc.)
